Electronic Cigarettes |
| |
The new introduce you to the electronic-cigarette. These battery-powered gizmos sound like a ridiculous party gag, and as a matter of fact they are. But they also deliver users a serious portion of vaporized nicotine that is supposed to sate even the most demanding of smokers. As Der Spiegel reports—with a healthy puff of irony and caution—e-cigarettes could be “Smoking 2.0.”
In particular, these gadgets sidestep the 4,000-plus chemicals present in standard cigarette smoke that plume into one’s lungs from the burning of tobacco and tar. This allows e-cigarette smokers to avoid the 50 or so cancer-causing components of normal cigarettes. Not surprisingly, e-cigarette companies make grandiose statements about the health benefits of their wares.

The idea of a Windows CE-based laptop apparently seems novel to many pundits, but it actually represents the resurrection of an old idea. Nine years ago, for instance, IBM released its Workpad z50, which sported Windows CE 3.0, Thinkpad styling, a MIPS 4100 CPU clocked at 131MHz, solid-state storage, and up to eight hours of battery life.

Iron-Chan: Japan shoots Marvel Heroes with anime-cute ray gun |
| |
We all know that Iron Man is the epitome of all hyper-masculine geek fantasies, but what if the character was given the cutesy, sometimes effete treatment tacked on to most Japanese anime characters? The result of such a alternate universe Iron Man actually exists courtesy of the folks at Asunarosya (see above photo). We're surprised they didn't dub this guy Iron-Chan ("chan" is usually attached to people or characters to make them seem cuter).
In fact, Marvel also allowed the company to give Wolverine, Spiderman, The Thing and The Hulk the "cute Japan" treatment with surprisingly adorable results. You can pick up your own cuddly version of Iron Man for just 3,990 yen ($40).

Honda launch dogs with a pooch friendly Element |
| |
A couple of years ago DogCars.com named the Honda Element as being the best dog car ever. So rather than resting on their laurels, Honda has decided to roll with it, by creating a special "Dog Friendly" version of their chunky crossover vehicle.
Older pooches have a tough time jumping into a high tailgate, so the Doggie Element has a pull out ramp that makes it easy for Rover to get in or out. Once inside, he'll find that the Dog Friendly Element is first class all the way, with a special crash secured doggie bed, splash proof water bowl, and even a fan to keep him cool on those long hot rides out of town. Honda realizes that dogs and cars can become a messy proposition, so the Dog Friendly Element has special removable and washable upholstery, dog bone pattern rubber floor mats, and a net to keep the canines and humans in their respective parts of the car.

Electric Shocking Mouse |
| |
If you don’t like the people you work with, it may be time for some revenge. Start shocking them. The product never actually says how much of a jolt this will deliver, but they say that it’s “Without harm and hurt, just a surprise”. Then in the next line they say “Just press the key as the usual computer, they will jump and cry!” .
So this gadget will make them jump AND cry for only $5.99. Can’t ask for much more then that. The company also warns that it’s “Not recommended for children under 14 years old, adults over 50 years old, or persons with any medical conditions.

Solar Insect Zappers |
| |
There is nothing quite like the satisfying sound of listening to insects being zapped to oblivion during the night by an electric-powered Insect Zapper. Unfortunately, that takes up juice which would not go down well with people who want to keep their power bill down, especially in these times of economic hardship. Enter the Solar Insect Zapper which does the nasty job without sipping a single watt of power from the grid.
This set of four solar insect lights simply stake into the ground anywhere in your yard and harness the sun’s energy to efficiently eliminate over 100 varieties of flying insects. The UV bulb turns on automatically at dusk and lures mosquitoes, flies, and other insects to eliminate them instantly with a 300-volt electric charge, providing chemical-free bug protection for up to eight hours on a full charge. An integrated solar panel requires only moderate sunlight and charges the internal batteries in eight hours. A grate surrounds the bulbs to discourage curious hands and protect wayward pets, and the housing is made from 100% stainless steel that resists damage from sun and rain. The units switch from bug zappers to accent lights at the touch of a button.

USB Syringe Flash Drive for the “wannabe doctors” |
| |
For those aspiring doctors and nurses, here’s a morbid flash drive for you. When you can’t get enough of jamming the tip of that needle into people at work, you can sit and reminisce over the good times you’ve had with your trusty needles. The USB drive also leaves the insides nice and exposed, which is likely to appeal to the hardcore geeks that adore seeing the insides of their electronics.
The flash drive is a decent size for a decent price, for once. It does happen occasionally with novelty flash drives, but just rarely enough to keep it exciting when an affordable one is spotted. It has 8GB of storage to hold your files and what ever else you think a syringe flash drive should hold. Perhaps you can store the secrets to some antidote on it or just make it look like you did. Then leave it lying around for a roommate to find who has played too much Resident Evil. You can purchase the drive for $29 through USB Brando.
